About GigWam

Building the operating system
for the flexible workforce.

Founded in 2019 by Priya Iyer (ex-Stripe Risk Ops) and Marcus Chen (ex-AWS Marketplace), GigWam is the all-in-one platform venture-backed operators use to hire, manage, and pay freelancers across 140 countries. Nine thousand, two hundred active engagements run through it every week — a number that tells you this is not a marketplace experiment, it is the rails under the modern distributed team.

The Founders

Two operators who had already lived the problem they set out to fix.

Priya Iyer

ex-Stripe, Risk Operations

Priya spent five years building the risk engine that protected Stripe's global payouts from misclassification and fraud. She started GigWam after watching three of her closest operator friends lose $2.4M collectively to contractors who could not legally be classified as contractors — and discovering no platform on the market actually prevented it.

Marcus Chen

ex-AWS, Marketplace Engineering

Marcus ran the matching infrastructure behind AWS Marketplace for six years — the system that decides which third-party software a customer sees first. He brought that ranking discipline to GigWam's AI Talent Graph, which now vets 14,000+ new freelancers every week against 41 skill and trust signals.
